Casual Pay ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
Free tier — no personal information collected. When you use the Casual Pay calculator, you enter shift times, a state, an age bracket, and a classification level. This information is processed in your browser and sent to our calculation engine to produce a pay estimate. We store the shifts and calculations you submit for analytical purposes, such as understanding usage patterns and improving the accuracy of the calculator. This data is linked to an anonymous, randomly generated identifier and is not linked to your name, email address, or any other information that could identify you.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data including pages visited, session duration, device type, and approximate location (city level). This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you individually. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Pro tier (coming soon). Pro isn't open for sign-up yet. Once it launches, if you sign in and subscribe, we will collect your name, email address, and profile picture from your chosen sign-in provider (Google or Facebook), your employer, shift, and pay-schedule data, and your subscription and billing status. Payment details (e.g. card numbers) are entered directly with, and processed and stored by, our third-party payment processor, Stripe — we never receive or store your full card details ourselves. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/au/privacy.
"Notify me" email signups. If you leave your email address after a calculation, we store only that email address, together with which page you signed up from. We use it solely to send you a one-time notification when Pro becomes available — we do not use it for any other marketing, do not share it with third parties, and you can ask us to delete it at any time (see section 6).
Analytics data is used solely to understand how users interact with the calculator so we can improve the service. Pro tier account information (name, email, shift and pay data) is used to provide the service to you — authenticating your sign-in, calculating and storing your pay history, and managing your subscription. "Notify me" email addresses are used only to send you a single notification once Pro launches, after which we intend to delete them. We do not sell, share, or disclose your information to third parties except as required by law or as necessary to operate the service (e.g. our cloud infrastructure provider, AWS, our identity provider for sign-in, Cognito, and our payment processor, Stripe).
Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish users and sessions. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings.
Free tier. Our calculation engine is hosted on AWS in the Asia Pacific (Sydney) region, and all data is stored within Australia. Data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Shifts and calculations are stored against an anonymous identifier only — we do not know who you are.
Pro tier. Account and shift data for Pro tier accounts is also stored within Australia, on the same AWS infrastructure. Payment information is held by Stripe under its own security and compliance controls, not on our infrastructure.
"Notify me" signups. Stored on the same AWS infrastructure within Australia, using only the email address you provide.
Under the APPs, you have the right to request access to personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct inaccurate information, including to close your Pro account and have your personal information deleted. As we do not collect or store personal information in the free tier, there is typically nothing to access or correct unless you have a Pro account. Requests can be sent to the contact address below.
If you believe we have breached the APPs, please contact us first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified on the website. Continued use of the service after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
